Our Bachelor programme in Applied Biology (BSc) differs from many other biology courses. The focus lies on subjects as human biology, microbiology, genetics and cell culture, whereas zoology and botany are not part of the Curriculum. Furthermore, the course structures are strictly modular and all academic and examination results are quoted as credits according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Therefore an international recognition is assured.
The courses and lectures are predominantly taught in English. Free German courses will be offered to facilitate comprehension for foreigners in the few German-speaking courses!
The 5th (and the 6th) semester may be spent abroad at one of our partner universities. A stay for one year can result in bachelor-degrees of both universities! - Please note: The stay abroad is subject to the condition that there are no legal restrictions on immigration or residence and that the partner universities offer sufficient vacancies.
The Bachelor degree enables the entrance either into a job or into a master programme, for example our Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences. The additional degree Bachelor of Honours (given by a partner university) enables you to directly start a PhD-study.
In 2003 the programme was successfully accredited by the German accreditation association ASIIN and it has been re-accredited in 2005 and 2009.
Start of the Course: Each Winter Semester
Note:
The attendance of the Safety Instructions is mandatory for all students! Otherwise a participation of any practical course is forbidden! The Safety Instructions are part of the introduction weeks (always scheduled in September/October).
